In the penultimate battle against Gozer the Gozerian the Ghostbusters go against Egon’s initial advice and decide to merge the energy streams of their proton packs and aim at the dimensional portal Gozer came through, at the risk of their own lives, as any hero would. This was a success and they save the city from the rampaging Stay Puff Marshmallow Man, and to Peter Venkman’s delight he is able to save Dana Barrett from being the ‘gatekeeper’ to Gozer, not forgetting Vinz Tully who was the ‘key master’ also, a happy ending.
